ABSTRACT
Over the years, African traditional Religion have been derogatorily categorized as a polytheistic religion. Hence it has been looked upon with little or no significance from the western world. But an in-depth study of this religion will clearly show great similarities in the aspect of doctrines and practices with the Abrahamic Religions which is considered to be Monotheistic in nature. Hence, in this study the research aimed to clearly elucidate the monotheistic nature and attributes of the African traditional religion, taking into considerations the concept of God in Africa, its nature in comparison with the Old Testament. This work employed the comparative and descriptive methodology. In order to ascertain reliable data, various methods of data collection were employed. These include oral interview and personal observation. Literatures are reviewed. Journal articles and internet are consulted. This work finally revealed the following: the unity of God in African traditional religion, and in the Old Testament clearly showing the similarities and dissimilarities in both religions.
