ABSTRACT

With the growing emphasis on renewable energy, there is an increasing demand for photovoltaic (PV) power due to its abundant availability and ease of control. Efficiently converting solar energy into electrical energy and minimizing costs are critical considerations in the design of PV systems. In the realm of renewable power generation, solar photovoltaic technology stands out as a crucial and environmentally friendly solution to address power shortages in various countries. The modeling, simulation, and analysis of solar photovoltaic generators represent essential stages before implementing a PV system at a specific location. This process aids in comprehending the behavior and characteristics of the system under real climatic conditions at that particular location.

This study suggests the modeling and simulation of a photovoltaic system, employing a single diode model for a PV solar cell. The model incorporates an efficient iterative method to calculate series and shunt resistance while simulating the impacts of various parameters, including temperature and irradiance. To expedite the simulation process, the input parameters are constrained. Leveraging data from the PV module datasheet, the developed model enables users to anticipate the current-voltage and power-voltage characteristics curve of the PV cell by varying sunlight and cell temperature.

The simulation of various models was compared with manufacturer-provided data concerning the internal parameters mentioned above. The maximum relative error percentage, found to be 1.65%, indicates a strong agreement between the manufacturer's values and the simulated values. Furthermore, the performance assessment of the PV module using real meteorological data (irradiance and temperature) yielded positive outcomes. This underscores its effectiveness as a robust tool for evaluating the performance of any solar PV modules.
