ABSTRACT
This work has shown the Impacts of Christian Missionaries in Asaba. A critical view of the history of Asaba people prior to the advent of the missionaries reveals that the coming and propagation of the gospel in Asaba, though ushered in with first, the acceptance of the Gospel, physical, Economic, Cultural, Social and religious transformation has been a continuous process in the daily lives of the people of Asaba and environs. The coming of the missionaries were instigated by three consecutive expeditions of 1841, 1854 and 1857 that ushered in the Gospel first in the lower Niger by the CMS before they brought the Gospel in the upper Niger in 1875 where the region of Asaba is situated. It took several years before the RCM arrived the region. Thus, the propagation of the Gospel was carried out by two different Christian bodies. Though their activities on the long run were juxtaposed with similar and different methods in the propagation of the Gospel.
