ABSTRACT
This study examines metonymic expressions in Ẹdo language. It highlights body parts metonymic expressions in the language.
The work adopted the cognitive semantics as its theoretical framework.
The method of data collection adopted in this work is the primary data, information was collected from seven (7) (two male and five female) competent speakers of Ẹdo language. The data was elicited in sentences (English) which was translated by the informant in Ẹdo language.
The findings in this study reveals that the metonymic expressions found in the E̩do language are contextual in nature.
