ABSTRACT
The general objective of this study is to examine the extent of media imperialism in Nollywood movies today, its impact and the solutions needed to create great movies for international content without losing its traditional flavor. The quality of Nollywood movies has increased with top notch storylines. However, critics have brought it into limelight that most movies avoid the Nigerian or Africa culture for Western. What should be seen as sacred or important is now considered obsolete. Since culture is a human construct and change is inevitable, the changes we see today are not surprising, however, conscious efforts has to be made to avoid the complete eroding of our culture. To this end, the study employs a critical analysis method of a case study, detailed literature review, content analysis of the selected film. Therefore, this study specifically focuses on the various ways the western media has impacted Nollywood.
