MASS MEDIA AND TERRORISM IN NIGERIA

SUMMARY

So far, this project has examined the impact of the mass media with the main focus on newspaper reports in the fight against terrorism. the project provided a background study to mass media and terrorism, giving an introduction to what mass media means, the various means of disseminating information which include newspaper, radio, television and the internet.\this work bothers on one of the means of disseminating information and also one of the oldest means of communicating with the mass is the Newspaper which is a form of print media. This project work illustrates how the mass media from 2010-2020 have been able to relate the “terrors” caused by terrorist groups in Nigeria. Although terrorist groups use the mass media to gain attention from the masses, the mass media be it electronic or print uses this as an avenue for making profit. Newspaper is the most common means that is used in transmitting information concerning terrorist attacks in Nigeria and with the information she relates, the masses are able to form their public opinion on the terrorism. Terrorist groups have been able to achieve their aims and purpose of instilling fears in the masses due to the reports and updates that have been carried out by various Newspapers.
