This study examined Ibadan market indigenous plant product preservation methods. Properly sustaining plant production after it is brought to the markets before it reaches the consumer ensures regular supply of key plant items. The semi-structured questionnaire covered six markets. The market has mostly perishable plants sorted by shelf life. We found 41 plant species from 26 families. It was shown that plants survive by removing moisture from their products. 22% of respondents store their items in well-sealed sacks, 20% blend grains with red pepper, and 30% sun-dry them. The study found that plant and product preservation is essential for farm sustainability and loss reduction.
