ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to determine market women’s perception of the challenges of poor sanitary conditions in Uselu Market, in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Three research questions were raised to guide the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design and the study population consisted of an estimated 2,005 market women who ply their trade in the market, from which 160 respondents, representing 8% of the population, were sampled using the purposive sampling technique. The instrument for the study was a structured questionnaire which was validated by the project supervisor and two lecturers from the Department of Health, Safety and Environmental Education. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistical tools in the form of frequency count and percentages.
