ABSTRACT

The title of this project is "Mapping of a Phase III Section of the University of Benin Ugbowo Campus in Egor, Ikopba-okha, and Ohunwmonde Local Government Areas of Edo State, Nigeria. This project is one the Department of Geomatics's large-scale survey. The project area is located within the University of Benin Ugbowo Campus, from the Faculty of Arts to the Vice Chancellors Lodge and Capitol Gate to Hall One. The goal of the project is to ascertain the study area size and location of buildings and ancillary elements, as well as the topography, in order to assist in decision making when developing the Institution. The Project began with the acquisition of satellite imagery of the research region from Google Earth Pro. The image obtained aided in the creation of a clear view of the project area. Reconnaissance in the office and on the ground became much easier as a result of this. Monumentation was carried out along the perimeter of the project area after familiarizing with the environment. The perimeter survey, detailing, and acquisition of spot height data were then carried out using Trimble GNSS and Total Station equipment. The project site covers an area of 116.541 hectares. All of the raw data was obtained and saved as a csv file. From the data various maps were produced such as Perimeter Boundary, Contour Map, Digital Terrain Model, Direction of Water Flow Map, 3D Wire Frame Map Spot Height Map and Composite Map using various software such as AutoCAD 2016, QGIS, ArcGIS 10.3 and Surfer 10.3
