ABSTRACT
Manpower training and development in Benson Idahosa University was studied as a reference point. Staff of Benson Idahosa University were used as subject for the study. A sample of 200 staff from Benson Idahosa University was used. Instrument used in gathering data was the questionnaire that contained 28 structured questions that were administered in Benson Idahosa University. Analysis of data was carried out using simple percentage. The result shows that identifying and determining manpower needs, training, manpower development and planning influenced employee performance in an organization. From the hypotheses tests carried out, the research shows that adequate staff training and development is significantly to increase in productivity. The study also revealed that effective training and development need assessment is significant to effective and efficient staff performance in an organization.
