ABSTRACT
Nigerian politicians operate bereft of any moral alignment. They are always after the end results which translates to attaining power, no matter the kind of measures taken. We have had a number of coups in the 20th century that involved the murdering of sitting presidents and even military heads of states. Other cases like, public character assassination of sitting presidents/governors by opposition parties vying for the same position wanting to get it by tooth or nail. This gives credence to the popular Machavelian quote “the end justifies the means.” Although it is not in consonance with the principles of democracy that is enshrined in the Nigerian constitution which accords citizens their basic human rights, the Nigerian political sphere is saturated with Machiavellian ‘s and is built upon his quote, in practice.
