The rate of interference and control which the State and Federal Government put on Nigerian Local Government, does not only affect the Local Government Chairman and Councilors but as well as the Local people. They control them through the introduction of the integrated staff system in which staffs are been moved in and out of the different sectors without being properly trained before they start their new job. There is also no financial autonomy. The objective of this research work is to determine the level at which local government autonomy has affected grass root development in Oredo local government, to determine the role of Administrators towards grass root development and so on. The method adopted for this study was done through Primary and Secondary data, and Questionnaires were distributed out to collect information’s on the study. It was concluded that Oredo Local Government Council is facing State and Federal interference in its activities. Based on the findings of the study, recommendations were drawn that the Constitution should be reviewed and amended to give chance to full autonomy at the Local level and also there should be an increase in the revenue allocated from the Federal account to the Local Government.
