ABSTRACT
This study aims basically at investigating the stylistic nature of broadcasting in order to discover how linguistic stylistics applies to broadcasting. The need for this study is show style for broadcasting and that the field has a register of its own. The study did not make use of a theoretical framework but a descriptive approach identified as discourse analysis. This study made use of data collected from the Edo broadcasting service media house located at Aduwawa, Benin city Edo state and other videos downloaded from the internet. Major results from the study shows appropriately the reason for the diction used by the media and the style used for the various forms of broadcasting. The study proved that there is a language variety which is clearly associated with broadcasting, the audience are seen as the life of the media and this made it clear that the broadcast media has people in mind to reach with various information.
