ABSTRACT
This research work was done to examine leadership in non-profit organizations within the University of Benin, Edo state, and to ascertain it's impact on workplace productivity. Further objectives of this study was to examine the influence leadership has on work ethic, to ascertain the overall productivity of the organization as a result of varying leadership and to determine whether leadership has an impact on high or poor work performance in non-profit organizations within the University of Benin. The research questions were subsequently drawn from these objectives.
The population consisted of members of different non-profit organizations within the University of Benin, Edo state. The sample for the study was 116. To successfully gather data to address the research questions, questionnaires were distributed. Of the 116 questionnaires that were distributed, 100 were satisfactorily returned.
The results of the study was analysed using frequency tables, percentages and using The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. It was discovered, that leadership in the organization was an indispensable tool, and that good leadership had a positive impact on the output of employees and poor leadership, a negative impact.
