ABSTRACT
This research work focuses on the problem of language shift and endangerment on the GBARANMATU language of Benikurukuru.
The problem of language shift in Izon has eaten deep into the political, social, cultural, educational and religious ethics of Izon.
The aim of this work is to expose the numerous problems of language shift and language endangerment in Benikurukuru. This project takes part in sociolinguistics. This work is divided into five chapters for discussion. Chapter one discusses the introduction, background of the study, methodology, scope of the study significance of the study and theoretical framework of the study.
Chapter two deals with the review of relevant literature, while chapter three, focuses on research design, population of the study, sample and sampling technique, research instrument, validity of instrument and method of data analysis. Chapter four deals with data presentation and analysis as well as results gotten from language shift and endangerment in Benikurukuru.
Chapter five covers summary, conclusion and recommendations, while References covers the list of cited materials and their authors and year as well as place of publication.
