ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to appraise the landuse practices and its effect on the environment in Idogbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. This two major sources of data were the primary and secondary. The primary data consisted of majorly the questionnaires, personal observation and scheduled interviews. The secondary sources included the relevant authorities like the Department of Lands and Survey Ikpoba – Okha Local Government Office and relevant internet sources. Random sampling was used during the fieldwork. Simple percentages were used for the analysis of data and testing of hypothesis. The data were presented in the form of charts and graphs. The major findings in this research revealed that the rubber research industry had a negative impact on the environment in Idogbo and its environs The study also recommended that the local government authority should provide the department of town planning the incentives for proper and reasonable landuse practices to ensure positive impact on the environment.
