ABSTRACT
The study examined the impact of job insecurity on the psychological well-being in the health care centres in Asaba, Delta State. The specific objectives were to investigate the relationship between cognitive job insecurity, affective job insecurity, perceived threat on the job, nature ofemployment and psychological well-being of health workers in the health care centres in Asaba,Delta State. The study adopted survey research design. The population of the study was two hundred and seventy-five. Data was generated through structured questionnaire administration.Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was used to analyse the data. The findings revealed that there were all the job insecurity dimensions (perceived cognitive job insecurity, perceived affective job insecurity, threat on the job, and the nature of employment) had significant and negative influence on psychological well-being. Perceived cognitive job insecurity had the most significant influence on psychological well-being. This was followed by perceived affective job insecurity. The nature of employment had the highest negative influence on psychological well-being. This was followed by cognitive job insecurity.
