Abstract

Malaria is a widespread borne disease caused by the vector as Plasmodium spp. to specifically transmitted by female anopheles mosquito to man and Plasmodium berghei in animals. Folklore benefits has elicited that the whole part of Senna siamea are helpful in the management and treatment of numerous diseases such as malaria. It is a morbimortality diseases associated with typhoid, abdominal pain, jaundice, menstrual pain, constipation, hypertension, insomnia, liver disease, diabetes and anemia. This study investigated the curative antimalarial effect of S. siamea leaf extracts on Swiss mice model. The results of this study showed the inhibitory antimalarial property of S. siamea in Swiss mice induced with Plasmodium berghei curative indexes. A significant reduction elicited (p > 0.05) in parasitaemiaof the curative study at graded doses (200, 400 and 800 mg/kg), of antimalarial efficacy was potent when compared with the reference drug (chloroquine) and malaria control. Hence, this plant have shown it potential as a viable antimalarial mediator even against resistance malaria spp to most synthetic drugs. In conclusion, S. siamea leaf extractsexhibited curative and therapeutic effects of across the aqueous andmethanol extract.
