Education is not merely to preserve and transmit the best of the past; it is also to demonstrate its function in the present as well as its possibilities for the future. The role of a state is to provide for certain homogeneity of mores, behaviours, activities and thoughts. The society has its sanctions for any form of anti-social behavior, and it is largely through these sanctions that the child is educated and initiated into the acceptance form of behavior of his society. As such, this course provides students with active learning experiences that enhance their ability to explore rights and responsibilities under the law, confront and resolve disputes, and discuss and analyze public issues. As an education package, it is design to equip non-lawyers with the knowledge and skills pertaining to the law, the legal process, and legal system, and the fundamental principles and values on which these are based.
