ABSTRACT
The main purpose of this research study is to examine Internal Revenue Generation and Local Government Performance in Edo State, using Oredo Local Government Council, Edo State as a case study. The research design of this project is descriptive and survey. The population of this study is 100 out of which 50 was drawn as a sample, using Taro Yamani as a mathematical tool. Four research questions were asked and simple percentages were used to analyze and verify the findings. The major findings of this research study were that corruption and poor revenue base of Oredo Local Gmentment Council, Edo State is responsible for its poor performance. Although Oredo Local Government Council, Edo State is lacking in the area of proper management of her revenue base, the study recommended that proper monitoring of the revenue collecting agent should be done and strategies put in place to check fraud and corruption among the council officials.
