INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES IN TEACHING AND LEARNING OF GOVERNMENT IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN IKPOBA OKHA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Abstract

This study covers instructional resources for teaching and learning of government in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area. To guide the study four research questions were raised. The research design used for this study was the constructivism theory. A total of 100 respondents were sampled for the study. The instrument used in this study was the questionnaire, data was analysed using simple percentages.

The finding of my study showed that inadequate used of instructional material have devastated the teaching and learning progress of government in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.

Based on the above findings, the following recommendations was drawn, the government should address the issues of instructional material, teachers should always try their best to make use of available instructional resources where necessary to make their lesson more interest. The school administrators should provide government teachers with enabling environment for the use of available instructional material to give room for participatory studentship and make learning more meaningful. Government should supply teaching aids and finance schools to improve unavailable and inadequate instructional materials to make teaching and learning easier, practical, appealing and enjoyable.
