Summary
Students' socioeconomic situation and academic achievement in biology were examined in this study. The students were enrolled in public secondary schools in the Egor local government of Edo State. Academic achievement in biology classes is the dependent variable, with parental income, number of children per parent, occupation, and level of education serving as the independent variables. In order to accomplish its purpose, the study formulated and posed four research questions. The study's variables were used to perform a literature review. For this investigation, the researchers opted to use a survey research approach. One hundred and ten public secondary school SS2 biology students were randomly selected for this research. "Social economic background and academic performance of biology students" was the name of the questionnaire that was used to attain the data. The survey was made by the researcher. The statistical tools standard deviation and mean were used for data analysis.Parents' income, family size, occupation, and level of education were found to have a substantial impact on their SS 11 biology students' academic achievement in the Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.
