ABSTRACT
The study examines the influence of school environment on the academic performance of secondary school students, particularly focusing on the influence of school environment on the academic performance of secondary school students in Warri North local Government Area of Delta state, Nigeria. The research delves into some factors of school environment that affects academic performance, such as availability of basic school facilities and nearness to market places in terms of location, emphasizing how these factors affects students and and their academic performance. Through a comprehensive literature review, the study outlines the significant impact of school environment on the students academic performance and outcome.
The findings suggest that adequate basic facilities, including, overall good sanitation of the school environment, and appropriate location of the school buildings are essential for improving the academic performance of secondary school students. Recommendations and suggestions for further research in the influence of school environment on academic performance are provided, highlighting the importance of a conducive school environment in enhancing academic performance and overall school efficacy.
The study advocates for the provision of adequate and necessary facilities and the location of the school in a conducive environment, and improvement of students academic performance. Furthermore, it recommends ongoing research to explore the different factors that affects the academic performance of secondary school students, innovative strategies and practices that can better support students and foster high-quality educational outcomes for students.
