INFLUENCE OF RELIGIOUS STUDIES ON MORAL DISPOSITION AND BAHAVIOUR

ABSTRACT

The study examined the influence of religious studies on moral disposition and behavior of University of Benin students. There are various factors that influence the moral disposition and behavior of University of Benin students, these factors are lecturer’s method of teaching, the development of religious studies curriculum and the role of religious studies in imparting morals and ethics in students. Four research questions were raised, to guide the study, and the study is beneficial to the curriculum planners, lecturers, undergraduates and the society at large, The descriptive research design was used for this research work, simple percentage and frequency count was used to analyze the data collected through the use of a structured questionnaire which serves as the research instrument. The data collected were analyzed in the chapter four of the research work according to the research questions in the chapter one of this research work. Therefore, having carried out the research work it is discovered that a lot of factors influence the moral disposition and behavior of University of Benin students, these factors must be properly considered so as to have an effective educational output. It is therefore recommended that lecturers should make use of effective teaching method when teaching; curriculum planners should consider the inclusion of ethics and morals in religious studies curriculum.
