INFLUENCE OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS ON THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF INDUSTRIAL SAFETY IN FACULTY OF EDUCATION UNIVERSITY OF BENIN.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was on assessment of influence of institutional materials on the effective teaching and learning of industrial safety in Faculty of Education in University of Benin. The following research questions were raised to guide the study What are the types of Instructional material being used in effective teaching and learning of industrial safety in University of Benin? What is the extent of availability of instructional material in the teaching and learning process of industrial safety in University of Benin? What is the frequency of the use of these Instructional material for effective teaching and learning process of industrial safety in University of Benin? What are the perceived impact of the use of Instructional material for effective teaching and learning process of industrial safety in University of Benin? The descriptive survey research design was used for this study. The population of this study consists of the adult all adult learning centre in Benin metropolis. The population of the study comprised nine and forty (940) full time students of the Department of Vocational and technical Education. Faculty of Education University of Benin. The sample of the study consist of 400 levels students of Vocational and Technical Education, Faculty of education University of Benin, Benin City. A proportionate sampling technique was adopted whereby 100 students in the various course area was used to select the final sample. The findings from the study the researcher observed that the overhead projector, video and television, computers, filmstrip, charts/maps, motion pictures, slides and model are all types of materials resources being used in teaching and learning of industrial safety. It was seen that overhead projector, video and television, computers, ipad, cartoons and model are available instructional materials in the teaching and learning of industrial safety. It was seen that material resources arouse interest and promote a desire to learn It was seen that was revealed that material resources help to save time. It makes learner to have self-esteem recommendation includes Government should 12 provide adequate physical facilities for the teaching and learning of industrial safety in University of Benin. Institution should be sited far away from noisy area such as market palace. Government and build more classroom to decongest over-populated classrooms.
