ABSTRACT
In the digital age, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills are indispensable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to thrive. This study delves into the impact of ICT skills on SMEs in the Egor local government area of Edo state, Nigeria. It examines the ICT proficiency levels of SMEs in the region and explores how these skills influence their growth. Recognizing the critical role of ICT skills in enhancing operational efficiency and market expansion for SMEs, the research aims to provide insights beneficial for educators, policymakers, and industry professionals. By utilizing the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as a theoretical framework, the study evaluates factors influencing ICT adoption within SMEs, emphasizing perceived ease of use and usefulness. Moreover, it addresses the challenges hindering SMEs' acquisition of ICT skills, such as financial constraints and limited access to training resources. A descriptive survey design and utilizes structured questionnaires for data collection with a population of 297 SMEs in Egor local government. Findings from both quantitative and qualitative analyses are integrated to provide comprehensive insights beneficial for educators, policymakers, and industry practitioners aiming to enhance SME business education and support services in the digital era.
