ABSTRACT
The purpose of the research was to assess the Influence of Health Education in the Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections Among Undergraduate Students in University of Benin. To achieve the purpose of the study three (3) research questions were posed to guide the study. Literature pertinent to the study was reviewed. Descriptive research design was appropriate for this study. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 7 faculties and a purposively sampling technique – 1% of respondents was selected from each of the selected faculties. Thus, the sample size for this study was 238 respondents. The instrument for data collection was researchers’ self-structured questionnaire. The test re-test method was employed; thus, a correlation coefficient of 0.724 was obtained which indicated that the instrument was reliable. The findings made revealed that the knowledge distribution among the respondents indicated that some of the respondents have a high knowledge level and other respondents have a low knowledge level. In light of these conclusions, strategies aimed at enhancing awareness and understanding, particularly can pave the way for more targeted and effective interventions, ultimately contributing to the prevention of risky behaviors and the spread of sexually transmitted infections within the community.
