ABSTRACT
Following the analysis of data collected and findings made, the following conclusions were drawn based on the major findings ofthis study:that the available functional literacy programmes for adult learners in the area are; Reading, Writing and Numeracy, that that level of adult learner's participation in functional literacy programmes is average, that functional literacy programme influence poverty alleviation among adults participants,that functional literacy programme influence peace development among adults participants and their communities, that literacy helps facilitate dialogue for conflict resolution, build culture and promote intercultural understanding and respect for others and that Adult are taught peace building skills that strengthens dialogue, meditation and negotiation, how to result conflicts, the spirit of patriotism and nationalism that leads to unity,progress and national security as well as the skills that promote an atmosphere of tolerance, equality, justice, harmony and fairess.
