INFLUENCE OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ON ORGANIZATIONAL GROWTH AS PERCEIVED BY BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS IN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

This study assessed the Influence of digital transformation on organizational growth as perceived by business education students in public universities in Edo State. Six research questions were raised to guide the study and one null and one alternate hypothesis was formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. The population for this study comprises of one hundred and fifty eight (158) 400 and 300 level Business education students. The sample size for this study was made up of Sixty (60) 400 and 300 level Business education students using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection was a well structured questionnaire titled Influence of Digital Transformation on Organizational Growth as Perceived by Business Education Students in Public Universities in Edo State “(IDTOGPBESPUES)”. The instrument was subjected to face validity by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. The reliability of the research instrument was determined by using internal consistency method via Cronbach alpha statistics. The research instrument was administered to twenty (20) students who were not part of the sample used for the study but were Business Administration students in Faculty of Management Science, University of Benin, Benin City. Their responses were analyzed and a co-efficient of 0.83 was obtained which showed that the instrument was reliable. The data collected were analyzed using mean (X) and Standard Deviation (SD) while the hypothesis was tested using two sample independent t-test. The findings showed that digital transformation, Basic computer skills, Internet proficiency skills, Data management skills, Digital marketing skills and Cybersecurity awareness skills influence organizational growth as perceived by business education students in public universities in Edo State to a high extent and that there is no significance difference between digital transformation skill and organizational growth as perceived by business education students in public universities in Edo State. The study therefore concluded that Digital transformation influence organizational growth as perceived by business education students. Based on the above conclusion the study therefore recommended among others that Business education students should take online courses or workshops on basic computer skills to continue to improve their understanding of how to use common programmes and operating systems.
