ABSTRACT

Contract planning determines the level of management, design, construction, maintenance, operation and so on that will be required from different parts of the supply chain, and to what extent those services will be integrated. This research was carried out to examine the influence of contract planning on construction project performance. A total of 41 respondents were engaged. The respondents comprise Contractors, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Land Surveyors, Asphalt foremen, and unskilled. Data was collected using structured questionnaire administered in which 100% response rate was recorded. The data collected were then analyzed based on the research objectives. Mean Item Score of responses to the questions were calculated. It was observed that the respondents have different demographic characteristics such as role, years of working experience, academic qualification, and employment organization. Results and findings showed that there were 5 most common contract planning practices used in the construction industry which include Schedule Development and Cost Estimation, Project Human Resources planning, Procurement Planning, Project scope planning, and Communication Plan.
