ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to examine the influence of classroom environment on the learners’ effectiveness in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government.
This study made use of the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study consisted One hundred (100) students which is also the sample respondents for the study. The instrument for data collection for this study was a self-constructed close-ended questionnaire the researcher's supervisors were part of the validation team. Data obtained from the study were analysed using mean score analysis.
It was found in this study that classroom layout, proper lighting, adequate ventilation and noise level can influence students learning and behaviour.The availability of textbooks and learning materials, access to technology, classroom supplies like stationeries and whiteboards, and classroom resources like charts and visual aids have an influence on student learning. Engagement of students, broadening of learning opportunities, encouragement of teamwork and fostering of digital literacy are the ways in which technology can influence student learning and behaviour.Establishment of clear rules and expectations, fostering of positive teacher-student relationships, promoting group works, and interactive lessons and incorporation of different instruction are the strategies a teacher can employ to create a supportive and effective classroom environment.
On the basis of the findings, it was concluded that a well-structured classroom environment, availability of learning resources, and effective use of technology play crucial roles in shaping student learning and behavior. Additionally, teachers can enhance learning outcomes by fostering positive relationships, encouraging collaboration, and employing diverse instructional strategies to create a supportive and engaging classroom.
