ABSTRACT
The study investigated the influence of child abuse on social adjustment of junior secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, five research questions were raised and answered. The sample size for the study was made up of 300 students. The descriptive survey research design was adopted and the data was collected with a questionnaire titled “Influence of Child Abuse on Social Adjustment among Students”. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, precisely mean and standard deviation, while all hypotheses were with independent sample t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The findings from the study revealed that there is no significant difference on child abuse among junior secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State based on sex. It was concluded there is no significant relationship between child abuse and social adjustment among junior secondary school students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommended among others that the government should ensure that laws that protect the rights of children are fully implemented with all sincerity. The violators of these law should be judiciously prosecuted by the law enforcement agencies.
