Five research questions were raised and their corresponding hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 alpha level of significance.

The research employed thesurvey research design using correlational and observational approach. The population of this study consists of 2,842 respondents (2,726 pupils and 116 teachers) in private pre-primary schools in Benin Metropolis of Edo State. The multistage sampling procedure was used to select 360 respondents (300 pupils and 60 teachers). The data collected with the instrument were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation for hypotheses one and two, while hypothesis three was tested using multiple regression and Fishers’-Z test statistics for hypotheses four and five at 0.05 level of significance.

The findings revealed that there is significant relationship between aesthetics dimensionand literacy development. Also, the findings revealed that there is significant relationship between play-way method and literacy development among preschoolers in private schools in Benin metropolis of Edo State.
