ABSTRACT

The study imestigated the industrial conflict and employees' performance in selected organisations in Warri, Delta State. Today's fast changing world is becoming increasingly characterized by conflicts of all opes Growing mumbers of organizations in aviation, education, banking, transport and manufacturing among others are lasing valuable resources including talent, time and revenue from work conflicts arising from within and without. So far, this matter has not been accorded much attention from risk management perspective. As a result of the emphasis on performance, researchers in human resource management have stressed the need for effective human resource strategy in conflict management. The overall goal of this study is to investigate the effects of industrial conflict on employee's performance. The specthe objectives are to; examine industrial conflict and employee's performance in selected firms, to examine the causes of industrial conflict and finally to identify the challenges of industrial conflict management and employee's performance. The research design employed for this research is descriptive survey: This methodology enables the researcher to elicit responses from the people through questionnaire administration. Consequently, the data collected was collated and quantitatively analyzed. The population of study of this research is two thousand nine hundred and seventy nine (2979) staff of Prolectro Nigeria Limited and Rain oil Industry Limited. The research adopted the simple random sampling technique; this methodology was employed to ensure adequate representation of the study population. 353 sample size was drawn from Taro Yamene formula. Collected raw data was edited for completeness and consistency. Data was analyzed by the use of simple percentage and mean value. The finding of the study discovered that industrial conflicts hinder effective and efficient employees' performance in an organization. The study recommends that management of organisations should provide a conducive physical working conditions and environment for employees.
