The evolution of human culture depends critically on the use of medicinal plants, all tribes and civilizations use medicinal plants as a source of treatment. Sida acuta, popularly known as broom weed is a malvaceous, tropical weed which belongs to crops, meadows, roadsides and wastelands. It belongs to the family Malvaceae and subkingdom of Tracheobionta order. According to research, analgesic, antipyretic, antiemetic, diuretic, demulcent, anthelmintic, antiulcer, anti-rheumatic properties of Sida acuta components are credited with helping to traditionally treat skin problems, fevers, ulcers, and liver problems. In vitro antioxidant scavenging properties and the total antioxidant power were assayed for in this study on the ethanol extract of Sida acuta. The result obtained from the study showed that the standards (gallic acid) had higher percentage inhibition on ABTS and DPPH with an IC50 (94.43 µg/ml, 1536.47 µg/ml) when compared to the extract (1089.14 µg/ml, 1536.47µg/ml) respectively. Similarly, the standard (ascorbic acid) was also observed to inhibit FRAP with an IC50 (0.54 µg/ml) of when compared to the extract (2.41 µg/ml). However, the extract was observed from the study to have a high antioxidant power (TAP) of 1.54±0.01 mgGAE/g. Owing to this high antioxidant potential, the ethanol extract of Sida acuta could be beneficial as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment and management of various diseases like malaria, cancer, diabetes
