IMPACTS OF WESTERN EDUCATION ON ENUGWU-UKWU COMMUNITY DURING THE COLONIAL PERIOD.

SUMMARY

This project is centred on the advent of Western education which was accompanied by missionary activities and policy of colonialism into Enugwu-Ukwu community of the present-day Anambra State. Thus, the aim of this project is to portray the impacts (negative and positive) of Western education on Enugwu-Ukwu community of the present-day Anambra State during the colonial period, which is our place of study. The specific objectives include:

An examination of the socio-political formation and educational system in study area before the advent of Western education. This objective is to portray the fact that Enugwu-Ukwu was not without an educational system before the influence of Westernization on the community.
