ABSTRACT
The main objective of this study is to examine the impacts of fuel price hike on food production and supply in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The specific objectives are to examine the effect of fuel price hike on agricultural labor force, find out the impacts of fuel price hike on cost of production, evaluate the relationship between fuel price hike and cost of supply, examine the relationship between fuel price hike and transportation, and examine the relationship between fuel price hike and the maintenance of farm produce. Questionnaires was used as the instrument of data collection in this study. the sample size for this study is approximately 400. Simple percentage will be used to analyze the results obtained from the questionnaires distributed while regression method will be used to estimate the existence of relationships among variable. Based on the analysis of the responses of the respondents, it was found that there is effect of fuel price hike on agricultural labor force, fuel price hike has impact on cost of production, there is a relationship between fuel price hike and cost of supply, there is no relationship between fuel price hike and transportation. The study also finds out that there is a relationship between fuel price hike and the maintenance of farm produce.
