ABSTRACT
This discourse has thoroughly examined the historical trajectory of feminism in the socio-political arena of the Nigerian society under the administration of Yar’Adua/Jonathan. This research work has been able to prove that the involvement of women in Nigeria’s socio-political structure over the years has undergone some major transformation, especially with the return to democratic rule in 1999. The issue of Feminism and Political Participation in Nigeria as captured by scholars from diverse fields, has been espoused with an attempt at clarifying the intellectual “cobweb” surrounding the electoral behavior of women and successes or failures of female aspirants in Nigerian politics. In addition, searchlight was beamed on the theoretical framework for a better understanding of the concepts under study. Furthermore, an attempt has been made to establish the nexus between feminism and gender inequality in Nigerian political space.
