ABSTRACT
This study examines the impact of the Nigerian Girl Guides Association (NGGA), in tackling Domestic violence in Oredo Local Government Area, Benin City, Edo State.” Domestic abuse”, also called domestic violence or “intimate partner violence has been viewed as a pattern of behaviour in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. Abuse on the other hand is a physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. This includes any behaviour that frightens, intimidate ,terrorize , manipulate, blame, injury, or wound someone. Domestic Violence can happen to anyone of any race, age, sexual orientation, religion, or gender. Historically, in many culture, domestic violence has been an acceptable norm, and ninety-nine percentage of victims of domestic violence are women and girls. Hence, domestic violence has become an issue of global concern.
