ABSTRACT

This Study examined the role of Tax Consultants in enhancing Tax Compliance in Nigeria.

The study employed the survey research design. The data were generated from responses to questionnaire by respondents. A sample size of 125 was derived from a total population of using the Taro Yamane's formula and 125 questionnaires which represents 100% of the sample size were retrieved.

Respondents were purposely selected from business owners in the Nigerian Trading sector, some geolocations in Benin City to be precise. The use of inferential statistics was adopted to test the data collected.

The result proved that There is no significant influence and enhancement by tax consultants on tax compliance in the trading sector of the Nigerian economy while Technology integration by tax consultants does not significantly enhance their effectiveness in promoting tax compliance among taxpayers and There is no significant correlation between the perception of tax complexity and the engagement of tax consultants, contributing to improved tax compliance.

Based on the findings and conclusion, the study recommends that there is need for tax consultants to constantly equip their knowledge and skills through training, tax consultancy firms should strategically leverage integration of technology in delivering their services and Policymakers in regards to taxation should prioritize efforts to streamline tax laws and regulations, making them more understandable and accessible to taxpayers.
