ABSTRACT
This project examined “Impact of Salary Increase and Fringe Benefit Among Nigerian Workers in the Public Sector: A Case Study of Egor Local Area, Edo State. To achieve this aim, five objectives were formulated. The five objectives were derived from the statement of the problems to facilitate the data analysis. The study was restricted to Egor local government area, Edo State. The simple random sampling method was used to select 220 respondents from the selected local government, Edo States; out of which only 203 participated actively. Data were collected with the aid of Questionnaire; the data generated through the instrument were analyzed using the simple percentage. Related documents and literatures were utilized to elicit information for this study. From the findings, it revealed that salary increase and fringe benefits encourage workers to increase their output and contribution towards work. It was also revealed that the respondents agreed that workers motivation help employee to be more effective with their job and performance. Furthermore, it was revealed that salary increase and fringe benefits plays a vital role in attracting workers to the organization and increases the livelihood of talented and productive employees. The study establish that salary increase and fringe benefits remains central in promoting the effectiveness and performance of workers in an organization A satisfied worker is a motivated worker who will put in the best in the organisation. When employee rewards are aligned to the overall strategic objectives of the organization, there is an equivalent increase in productivity. This calls for adjustments at work places that ensure that hardworking employees are motivated to perform better. Maintaining healthy employee relations in an organization is a pre- requisite for organizational success. Base on the findings in this study, the following recommendations were made that there is need for managers at all levels in Egor local government to develop interpersonal relationship with their subordinate and they should consider their opinions as critical. This gives workers a sense of belonging and recognition and they would perform better if their suggestions were seen as part of management decisions. There is need for government to increase the salary of the entire staff of the organization. And there should be promotion of employees at least every two years. Furthermore., Management should ensure there is equality in salary increase and fringe benefits administration within the organisation to avoid marginalising some individuals or group of persons within the organisation
