ABSTRACT
Road transport is noticeably the major means of transportation in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo state, thus the need to understand how road network impacts on internal circulation in the area propelled this research work. The research utilized simple percentage method to propagate its analysis and questionnaires were administered in alias to finding out road network impacts on the various indices and factors of internal circulation such as; its correlation to commercial activities, vehicular movement, rent value, internal mobility etc. From the test result a cumulative percentage of the respondents accounting for about 74.1% suggested that road network encourages commercial activities in the area. A higher percentage accounting for 61.4% of the respondents opined that there is a symbiotic relationship between road network urban expansions of the area. Also from the cumulative test analysis and results what was deduced however was that road network tends to directly or indirectly propel activities associated with internal circulation. Deductions from the test result and analysis showed that traffic congestion is the most cardinal problems associated with road network in the area. Suggestions such as road expansion and dualization, the use of traffic control mechanisms to avert accidents and consequent dangers that will deter the free flow of movement.
