ABSTRACT
This study investigates the “The impact of leadership styles in the implementation of community development project in Egor local government area of Edo state. Four (4) research questions were raised to guide the study.
The sample size for this study was total of two hundred (200) respondents from Egor local government area will be selected using multi-stage sampling techniques. The questionnaire was the major instrument used for the study and was designed and validated by experts in the department of Adult and Non Formal Education , Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria for item scrutiny. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques such as tables, simple percentages, mean score and standard deviation.
Findings of the study revealed that that Autocratic, democratic and laissez –faire leadership are the mostly used leadership style by community leaders in community development project in Egor local government area. It was also concluded in this study that autocratic and democratic leadership style are the styles used by leaders in Egor local government area in implementing community development project. It was further recommended that the government to introduced leadership styles like transformational and servant that promotes inclusion in community development project’s implementation.The government and non-governmental organizations should help address problems identified with community leadership especially it concerns project implementation.
