ABSTRACT

In this study, the impact of land use land cover practice on rainfall runoff around Ogbese River Basin has been investigation through the integration of Arc hydro, HEC-GeoHMS and HECHMS with ArcGIS software. Optimization trial of the model was conducted using a basin model generated by the ArcGIS extension of HEC-GeoHMS and three years (2016-2018) of observed daily rainfall data. The model was found to be highly sensitive to curve number change. Using the daily precipitation, the model was able to compute the daily precipitation loss, the rainfall excess including the direct runoff. In addition, the peak discharge, the total direct runoff for the period under study including the response of each subbasin to variability in daily rainfall volume were also computed and generated.
