ABSTRACT
This study investigated the impact of facilitators’ teaching methods on learners’ academic performance in adult literacy programmes in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, five research questions were raised and examined. The sample size for the study was made up of one hundred and ten (110) adult learners selected from five literacy centres in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using mean score and standard deviation. The findings from the study include that there is high level of learners’ academic performance in adult literacy programmes in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there is a significant impact of facilitators’ teaching methods on learners’ academic performance in adult literacy programmes in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommended among others that use of discussion and demonstration methods of teaching should also be employed by teachers in lessons delivery as both methods enables students to see physical materials that will illustrate some meaning to their cognitive framework
