Therapeutic compounds found in medicinal plants have remained vital for healthcare throughout centuries because they yield useful medical benefits. This study aimed to evaluate the immunostimulatory effects of the aqueous extract of Jatropha tanjorensis on the hematological parameters of Wistar rats. The study used 30 wistar rats divided into four groups: a control group and three treatment groups receiving different doses of Jatropha tanjorensis aqueous extract. The extract was prepared using maceration method. Proximate, phytochemicals and mineral analysis were analysed using standard laboratory procedures to determine nutritional contents. Haematological parameters were analysed through automated blood analysis. Proximate analysis demonstrated that the aqueous extract contained a higher cardohydrate content, while the crude fibre has the lowest content. Mineral analysis revealed significant level of potassium and calcium essential for cardiovascular and both health. Phytochemical analysis showed that flavonoid exists at higher concentration unlike phenolics which exists at lower concentration in the aqueous extract of the plant. Haematological variation showed an increase in red blood cell count, hemoglobin levels and packed cell volume in extract treated rats. These findings highlight Jathropha tanjorensis as a promising medicinal plant with significant nutritional and haematological benefits.
