ABSTRACT
Pre-eclampsia sometimes called toxemia of pregnancy is a disorder of pregnancy characterized by the onset of high blood pressure and always a significant amount of protein in the urine. Pre-eclampsia increases the risk of undesirable outcomes for both the mother and the baby. If left untreated, it may result in seizures at which point it is known as eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia affects 2–8% of pregnancies worldwide. Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (which includes pre-eclampsia) are one of the most common causes of death due to pregnancy. Pre-eclampsia is a major contributor to maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality worldwide. The aim of this study was to assess some immunological profiles in pregnant women with pre-eclampsia attending University of Benin Teaching Hospital. Benin City, Nigeria.
