ABSTRACT
The waste problem considered as one of the most crucial problems facing the world as a source of the environmental pollution. During last recent years, many improvements have occurred in all parts of life such as social, industrial, economical etc., this will lead to generate new ways of living and increase the human requirements, and will also increase types and quantities of the waste in Nigeria , without any active processes to provide solution to this problem. Waste rubber tyre cause serious environmental problems all over the world. One of the potential means of utilizing the waste tires is to process this waste material for the protection of the environment and society. It is suggested to use this waste tyres as an additive in portland cement concrete mixes, which would partially help in solving this problem.
Increasing use of waste material scrap tyre rubber ash in construction industry has reduced the handling and disposal problems of these wastes. scrap tyre rubber ash are generally, employed to develop light weight and low strength concrete composites. This project work discusses the influence of scrap rubber tyre ash on the behavior of concrete as partial substitute for cement. The rubber tyre ash content was been replaced in 0%,4%, and 10% in cement. Similarly, Testing of the concrete specimen prepared under different percentage of rubber scrap ash was performed for 7, 14 and 28days of age for workability, compressive and flexural(bending) strength. The Experimental results show that the compressive strength and flexural strength decreases while workability increases with increasing rubber content.
