ABSTRACT
This study examines the Impact of Human Resource Management Practices on Construction Firm Workers Turnover Intention in Edo State. It goes on to further evaluate the HRM practices adopted in construction firm workers in Edo State. The study compares the HRM practices of large and small construction firms in Edo State and also determined the relationship between HRM practices and turnover intention of workers in construction firms in Edo State. Data for the study were collected through well-structured questionnaire directed to professionals in practising firms in Edo State. Data collected were analysed using mean item scores and spearman rank correlation. A total of 145 questionnaires were shared among the population of which 93 responded. This formulated the sample size for the research. The study reveals that placement of right staff into the right department for the achievement of company general goals, orientation and training of newly recruited employees, screening of candidate for vacant positions, organizing workshops, seminars, and training to enhance employee skill, and staff are made to undergo training while waiting for the company to secure other projects with rank 1st, 2nd, 3rd , 4th, & 5th were the most adopted HRM practices in Benin City, Edo State. The study also shows that no difference exists in the level of adoption of Human Resource Management Practices in large and small firms in Edo State.The study reveals that a negative relationship exists between HRM practices and turnover intention of construction firm workers in Edo State implying that the current degree of adoption would lead to a high turnover intention among construction firm workers.Conclusion and recommendation are made on the report of this research paper.
