ABSTRACT
This study was aimed at the growth performance of Heterobranchus longifilis fed brewers waste based treatments. 100 Heterobranchus longifilis fingerlings were randomly shared to five treatments each with three replicates such that brewers waste replaced soyabean meal at 0%,25%,50%75% and 100% inclusion levels. Fishes were fed for 10weeks(70days). Evaluation of nutrient utilization and growth parameters of the experiment fish followed standard methods. Results showed that there was significant difference (p<0.05) in the weight gain among treatments. T1 (control) had the highest weight gain with 14.33±2.08 while the lowest was obtained at T5 4.67±1.15 at 100% inclusion level. This experiment revealed that brewers waste can be tolerated to inclusion levels between 50% to 75%. Higher inclusion levels of brewers waste could adversely affect the growth performance of the fish which is clearly shown in treatment 5 with 100% inclusion level. From this study it was concluded that the optimal range of inclusion and replacement of soya bean meal with brewers waste is 50%.
